Happy New Year!!  I love the beginning of a new year. It’s filled with so much possibility and excitement. Every day can be a fresh start but moving into a new year is something magical.

It’s a good time to reflect on the past year. Most likely your year was filled with ups and down (that’s life, right?) but what about focusing on all of the positive things that happened over the past year. Taking time to reflect can be a very eye opening experience.

What are your thoughts as you start a new year? Do you set goals and intentions for the year ahead? Maybe you think now’s the time to get organized once and for all, the chance to learn how to take time for yourself or the opportunity to bring more meaning to your life?

Ready To Add More Love Into Your Life?

Just the thought of writing this post has me feeling vulnerable…so exposed.

Over the long weekend, I had been taking advantage of some extra time to catch up on my reading.

My most recent book was Live Your Truth by Kamal Ravikant.  This was a second reading and I am always amazed how you can read the same thing and it feels like an old friend and yet new at the same time.

How To Make Compassion Your Best Friend

How many times do you think about something that has happened in the past and believe that it defines who you are?   It could have been something you said, something you did (it sounded good at the time) or maybe it was something that you didn’t say or do but wish you did.

It’s so easy to be hard on ourselves and create a story to go along with it.   “I’m not smart enough, I’m not good enough….”.  You get the idea!

Who wants to get caught up in the loop of self-judgment?  I have no doubt that you want to get off that loop as fast as you can.

Change Your Story, Change Your Life

Who loves to read a good story? 

The kind that lets you escape into someone else’s world even if just for a little bit.

For the parents out there, what about sharing favorite stories with your kids?

Books have always been a very important part of life for our family.  I fondly remember having “book parties” with all three of my kids. 

We would grab a stack of books, find the most comfortable location and off we went. 

Unfortunately there are other stories that are not so enjoyable.  Those are the stories that we tell ourselves.

Self-care Is Not Just For Other People

Do you ever forget to take care of yourself? 

I know that you are busy and finding time for yourself can be hard.  But if you don’t, it won’t be long before you are operating from a place of exhaustion and just going through the motions. 

According to a study at North Carolina State University, self-care is the active participation in enhancing the quality of your health.

Who doesn’t want to enhance the quality of your health which would in-turn enhance the quality of your life?

There is a belief out there that self-care is indulgent but the reality is that you can only sustain your physical and mental health when self-care is a non-negotiable priority.  Taking care of yourself allows you to be the best possible version of you.

Making Space By Clearing The Clutter

As I write this blog post, I am sitting on a park bench in a beautiful green space waiting for my son to complete his first in car driving lesson.   With the post being about clearing the clutter, it makes me smile thinking about how that is the last thing on my mind right now.   And it feels so good!

With the warmer temps and longer days in my part of the country, the idea of clearing the clutter is as exciting to me as not needing to wear as many layers.  I know that I am ready to shed what no longer serves me, whether it is extra layers or clutter.

So many of my conversations lately have centered around everyone’s desire to let go of all of the clutter.  This tells me that I am not alone.

Creating A Morning Ritual

What comes to mind when you hear the words “morning ritual?”

Just hearing the words may bring up feelings from “What’s that?” to “I wouldn’t start my day without it” and many things in between.

Many of you may be thinking that it’s a great idea but “I just don’t have the time to add one more thing into my already jam-packed schedule.”  If this is the case, I want to let you know that I have also been there. 

Until recently, I had no idea the meaning of a morning ritual.  My morning ritual would consist of getting started on all of the things that needed to be done.  Many times this would happen without even energizing myself for the day.  After all, isn’t life all about getting things done?

Welcome To My First Blog Post!

When the idea of writing a blog post came up, it intrigued me and intimidated me at the same time.  After all, I had never considered myself to be a writer but have admired others who have written blog posts. 

When making a decision about how to move forward, I thought of one of my favorite quotes by Neale Donald Walsch: “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”

Sure, I love the quote but do I really want to step out of my comfort zone in such a big way?  Thinking about my options, I could stay safe where I currently am or make the decision to step into all of my possibilities when it comes to my life and career.
